Jeffrey L. Nischwitz


Jeff Nischwitz recently joined Cowden Humphrey to work with clients in navigating their business issues and growth strategies, as well as working with clients on their business and litigation disputes. Jeff has extensive experience in guiding businesses and business owners through the challenges of business and commercial litigation, ERISA litigation, construction litigation, and other business disputes. He has demonstrated ability to provide clients with not only the best litigation advice, but the proactive advice that they need in the complex interaction between litigation issues and business needs.

Jeff formerly founded and led his own entrepreneurial and business law firm before starting and building several other non-law businesses. He has also spent several years working with and advising business owners on business growth strategies in the areas of leadership, sales and marketing, business development, team development, and strategic planning. Jeff’s general business and entrepreneurial experience allows him to work with Cowden Humphrey clients as an outside advisor committed to their business success.

He is well known in the business community for his leadership abilities, creativity, innovation and energy. He has an established reputation for building strong relationships and using those relationships to help others enhance their own personal and professional success. He is a frequent speaker and presenter on various business topics including Building Businesses, Leadership, Networking, Sales and Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Business Development, Business Planning, Personal Development, Goal Setting, and Strategic Planning.

Jeff is involved with numerous business and non-profit organizations and initiatives as part of his personal commitment to being a strong and supporting member of the community and the region. Jeff’s main community engagement is in the area of education, serving on the Board of E CITY and the Harvard Avenue Community School, and on the Entrepreneurship Preparatory School’s marketing committee. He is also a graduate of Cleveland Bridge Builders’ 2006 Flagship Class as part of its leadership and community engagement program.

In 2007 Jeff Nischwitz published his first book – Think Again! Innovative Approaches to the Business of Law (American Bar Association 2007), and regular speaks to professional service businesses on the topics of firm management, leadership, strategic planning, and business development.

Jeff earned his Juris Doctor degree (summa cum laude) from The Ohio State University College of Law in 1984 after receiving his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (summa cum laude) from Ohio Northern University in 1981. He was admitted to the bar in 1984 and is a member of the Cleveland, Ohio and American Bar Associations.
